Nissan India today finally launched the new Nissan Tekton SUV in the Indian market. The new Tekton shares its platform with the new Renault Duster and will be manufactured at Renault’s facility in Tamil Nadu. Interested customers can book the new Tekton online or by visiting their nearest dealerships by paying Rs 21,000, and deliveries will start from July 20. The SUV will compete with the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Volkswagen Taigun and other mid-size SUVs in the Indian market.

The new Nissan Tekton is offered in six variants – Visia, Visia plus, Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna and Tekna plus with prices ranging from Rs 10.49 lakh to Rs 18.59 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom). It’s offered in two engine options – a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol with 100hp, 166Nm of torque and comes paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox only. Another engine option is a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol which puts out 163hp, 280Nm, and comes paired either with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT).In terms of design, the 2026 Nissan Tekton draws design inspiration from the Patrol, resulting in a more upright appearance than the Renault Duster. Up front, it features a wide grille with twin chrome slats, slim LED headlamps and a full-width C-shaped LED DRL. A thin red trim runs below the headlamps, while the bonnet gets pronounced creases and Tekton lettering. The front bumper has a dual-tone finish, LED fog lamps and a silver faux skid plate.

On the sides, the Tekton retains the Duster’s basic profile but stands apart with newly designed 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, flared wheel arches and a silver insert on the front doors. It uses conventional front door handles, while the rear door handles are integrated into the C-pillars. Moving on to the rear, unlike the Duster, the tailgate is finished in the body colour instead of a contrasting black panel. It also gets C-shaped LED tail-lamps connected by a full-width light bar, a roof-mounted spoiler and an upright tailgate with Tekton lettering. The dual-tone rear bumper includes a silver skid plate.Moving inside, the overall layout is the same as the Duster, but it features a dual-tone rose gold and burgundy dashboard. Features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, a powered tailgate, 6-way adjustable and ventilated front seats and more. Safety features include six airbags, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, front and rear sensors, an electronic parking brake, and it also gets a 5-star safety rating from BNCAP.
