Vat Purnima 2026: Significance
Vat Purnima is one of the most significant days in Hindu religion. The day holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindu people. On this sacred day, married Hindu women observe fast from dawn to dusk for the sake of their husbands’ health and wellbeing. They also pray to Vat Vriksha, the banyan tree. Married women honor the banayan tree, which is endowed with immortality, on this auspicious day for their husbands’ longevity and well-being. When someone prays to Vat Vriskha with complete devotion and purity, their wishes are fulfilled. According to Hindu texts, Savitri saved her dying husband Satyavaan from Yamaraj, the God of Death, on this day. Hindu ladies who fast on this auspicious day and worship Vat Vriskha are blessed by Trinity God, and their husbands enjoy long, happy, and healthy lives.
